Spielberg produced film premieres in New York

Premiering in New York on Monday was the Steven Spielberg produced film, The Hundred-Foot Journey which starts Helen Mirren.  The movie tells the story of how the opening of an Indian restaurant next to a famous French eatery stirs up trouble. Set in a town in the south of France, it prompts a battle over cuisine and culture.

"It's a movie about love and understanding and it's a movie about the spaces between the cultures and how we fill those spaces so the cultures can basically come together and in this picture we have the French culture, we have the Indian culture but it really speaks a universal truth, so it doesn't leave out Americans, doesn't leave out Spanish, doesn't leave out anyone because it's representative of another way to sort of live in peaceful co-existence," Spielberg said.

"I think that, also that it was shot in France 'cause I'm a big Francophile. I love France. I love the French countryside, the French culture, the French language. I speak pretty good French. I really wanted to do the whole role in French but I couldn't because it's an American movie," Mirren said.
